Team manager overview
Overview
The Team Manager is an integral part of the team and serves as the key communicator to parents/guardians while providing organizational support for coaches throughout the season. This role represents the FYLA mission at the team level and acts as the liaison between coaching staff, families, the FYLA Board, and program partners.
What's in it for you?
Serving as a Team Manager is a great way to step into a leadership role within the program. You’ll build strong connections with other families, support your player’s coaches, and play a meaningful part in creating a positive team experience. It’s one of the best ways to truly get to know your lacrosse community.
In addition, families who serve as Team Manager for the Spring/Summer season will have their volunteer requirement (4 or 6 hours at the Goat Tournament) waived.
If you’re looking for a way to make an impact while staying closely connected to your player’s season, this is it.
The core responsibilities are:
Assist the team coaches with administrative and communication duties throughout the lacrosse season. Keep watch for association-wide events and promote them to your families.
Coordinate Game Day Volunteers: As Team Manager, you are responsible for running and maintaining a schedule for two required roles at each game: Score Keeper (home games only) and CHILL Manager (all games).
- Important: Team Managers cannot serve as CHILL Managers (league rule).
- Duties of the CHILL Manager are listed below.
- We recommend using SignUp Genius to organize sign-ups for Score Keeper and CHILL Manager.
- Communicate these needs clearly with parents and ensure both positions are covered for every game throughout the season.
- Please note: These roles are in addition to the core volunteer hours that all parents must complete at the Viking Goat Tournament (or they will forfeit their $500 volunteer deposit).
- Spring Season Note: During the Spring season, the host site provides scorekeepers. You are only responsible for Chill Managers during Spring games.
Maintaining team page by adding/editing games and touraments and adding jersey numbers. Syncing calendars within Crossbar and the GNLL, YLM and MSLax sites and watching for schedule changes.
Team communications via Crossbar Team Feed (for desktop, will also email) and Chat feature (for mobile)
Spring season: Reporting game scores to GNLL following every game.
Summer season: Work with YLM on game rescheduling (if needed) & score reporting (Boys only)
Promoting relevant FYLA events like fundraisers and youth night, etc.
