Volunteer requirements (formerly DIBS)
OVERVIEW OF EXPECTATIONS
FYLA depends on its volunteers to support a quality lacrosse program for all our youth athletes. The time, talent and energy that each family contributes helps offset the cost of playing lacrosse. In addition, roles related to supporting a home-sponsored tournament helps generate revenue to provide various capital improvement projects at our facilities. FYLA families are expected to complete volunteer hours every season. See below for information on each of these.
At the beginning of the season a $500 volunteer fee will be collected. This check will be securely destroyed at the end of the season, provided the volunteer requirements outlined in the agreement are met. These requirements include:

- 1 player = 4 volunteer hours per family at the Goat tournament in June
- 2 players = 6 volunteer hours per family at the Goat tournament in June
Volunteer opportunities for the Viking Goat Tournament will be posted on Crossbar the week before the event.
We understand that this short notice isn’t ideal. However, we're working within the USA Lacrosse organization's schedule and often don't receive final details until the last minute. We appreciate your flexibility and support!
Game day volunteering
Team Managers will also be coordinating game day volunteers. They will request sign up and maintain the schedule for two required roles at each game: Score Keeper (home games only) and Chill Manager (all games).
- These roles are in addition to your core volunteer hours that all parents must complete at the Viking Goat Tournament (or you will forfeit your $500 volunteer deposit).
- Team Managers cannot serve as Chill Managers (league rule).
- Positions are needed for every game throughout the season.
Other Volunteer info
- Grievances regarding this policy will be reviewed by the Board.
- To ensure proper tracking when you write your volunteer check, please include the name of the player(s) the check is for in the memo line. For families with multiple players, the check will be applied to the eldest player's team.
- Families may opt out of their volunteer obligations during the registration process by paying a $500 fee online. Please note, this option is only available during online registration and cannot be selected later.
- Note for Scholarship Families: Families receiving scholarship support have slightly modified volunteer requirements. In recognition of the support provided by FYLA, scholarship families are asked to give back a little more through additional volunteer hours.
NEW PLATFORM
CHANGES EFFECTIVE WITH CROSSBAR
In order to provide a smoother and more efficient experience for our members, effective for the 2025 season, FYLA moved from Sports Engine to Crossbar for website and registration management. This will mean there is a new process for signing up for volunteer hours (formerly called DIBS). While the platform is new for all, the overall approach to volunteer hours is not changing.
Signing up for Volunteer Shifts
To view and sign-up for volunteer shifts, view the Crossbar step-by-step guide.
Log into your Farmington Youth Lacrosse Association Crossbar account, click Account, then Volunteer to see Shifts. Shifts are not available until approx. 1 week before the Goat tournament.
Thank You, Volunteers!
We sincerely thank you for generously giving your valuable time to support our youth lacrosse association. Your dedication strengthens our program and creates a positive, thriving environment for our players.
